Blog Post #8
1.
Step 1: Know the
Learner
|
·
This lesson plan was
created for second graders. They will be looking at different types of plants
and understand the different parts of a plant. Because of their very young
age, they have little knowledge on the topic and this will be a beginning
step to their understanding
|
Step 2: Articulate
Objectives
|
·
By the end of this
lesson the second-grade students should be able to list and match the
different parts of certain plants, and also be able to distinguish between a
few basic plants learned about in this lesson
|
Step 3: Establish
the Learning Environment
|
·
The lesson plan
calls for the class to walk around the school, either inside or outside, and
have different stations.
·
Once at each
station, the students will write down notes on the specific plant
·
Once done with the
observation section of the lesson, they will return back to the classroom to
further discuss their findings
|
Step 4: Identify
Teaching and Learning Strategies
|
·
The lesson will
start with a class discussions. They will read the book From Seed to Plant and then talk about different vocab terms that
describe the plant growth process.
·
Then as a class they
will walk around and observe different plants and the growth process. They
will individually take notes and then discuss each students’ findings.
·
Finally, they will
have the time to write a little description of everything learned
|
Step 5: Select
Technologies
|
·
For this lesson,
there is not much technology used. When the children are writing down what
they see, it will be in a notebook or index card.
·
The only time some
technology might be used is during the discussion beforehand. The teacher
might put up different examples on the board, presenting it through a
PowerPoint. This is not described in the lesson plan I found so it would be
personal choice.
|
Step 6: Evaluate and
Revise the Design
|
·
I believe that the
assignments and lesson plan accurately assess what second graders should be
able to understand. The lesson seems very straight forward and the design of
the lesson makes it accessible for this age group. I believe that it tests
many of their abilities and there is nothing I would directly change about
it.

2. This is the photo
of Bloom’s Taxonomy that I followed. I believe that PowerPoint would be a great
way to accomplish all of Bloom’s levels. When using a PowerPoint, you are able
to separate information into many slides and therefore not get ahead of
yourself or give information away. The first slide would be remember. Here you
could put information to go over and make sure the students have remembered
what they have previously learned in a previous lesson or on their own before
class. Next, you would have an understanding slide. This is where you would
provide the new concepts of the chapter/lesson. Next would be the application
stage. You could provide different examples to see how well your students are
understanding the information and are able to apply it to real world situations.
After comes analyze and evaluate. This is when you can compare this idea to
other ones and come to take a stand and come up with your own opinion. The
final slide would be a create slide. This is when you could have an activity for
your students to do. Overall, I believe that PowerPoint is the best teaching
technique for Bloom’s Taxonomy.
3. I definitely learned lot from creating my own WebQuest. I was
very intimidated making my own website at first. I have used Wix in the past
and really struggled with it. By the time I finished the assignment, I had
learned so much and found myself really enjoying the design process. I would
definitely like to integrate this into my classroom in the future. I think I
could add some more information next time, and clarify my process step a little
better. As we get further into this class, my creativity has broadened and that
is very exciting!
Here is a photo of my
introduction page. I am also going to attach the link in case anyone is
interested! https://hayleysinger13.wixsite.com/eme2040
4. I commented on Mallory's blog and Morgan's blog
Hey! I think you had a really good post. For some reason I couldn't see your first question but I loved your Webquest. I think that it was awesome that you created a group project related to the book because that would be very fun in the classroom. Also, I learned a lot of Bloom's Taxonomy last year and totally agree that the power point would go along with it!
ReplyDeleteHey! Thanks for pointing out that you could not see my question 1. I believe I fixed it
DeleteHey Hayley! Your blog looks great and it was a great idea to include a photo of your Bloom's Taxonomy that you used. I also really liked how you formatted question one, I have to say that I did follow after you about that! Last week I looked at your WebQuest and it was super helpful when I was getting lost about what the include so I really liked yours! But I can agree that if you integrate into the classroom maybe some more information for the kids would be helpful!
ReplyDeleteHayley,
ReplyDeleteGreat blog this week! I loved getting to hear about your experience with your website and exploring it myself. You have such great content on the website that would definitely be useful to your "students."
