Blog Post #11
1. I do not believe I will use surveys all that often in my class. I could see myself doing them at the end of the year for parents and students (if old enough) to fill out. I would use this for my own benefit to improve my teaching skills in the future. However, Excel I could see myself using all the time. I believe it could be very beneficial to any classroom and any subject matter. It could be used for reporting grades and comparing class averages to make sure your class is on track for success. When trying to create our excel sheets for the assignment this week, I watched many videos of teachers who used it and they all expressed how much they loved it and how beneficial it was to their classroom.
2. I think that “The Flipped Classroom” is still a very new idea, but could have great success if implemented in the right way. The flipped classroom consists of posting video or audio lectures online for the students to learn at home. This gives the students the ability to learn at their own pace, watch lectures over again, and even practice while watching the lesson. With this instructional method, the students would then do what we consider to be “homework” in class. I could see how this is very helpful in that you can often learn a lesson, think you understand it, and then struggle with the application process. As long as there is a way to make sure the students are actually putting in the time at home, I believe this could be very successful in future classrooms.
3. Some technology-related skills I would like to take the time to learn would be some form of video production. I think that making videos of your students and how they learn could be a new and fun way to achieve success. Having them be the star of the performance could be very beneficial in that they have to learn their parts and they can see how working as a team helps to create the end goal. Creating this production and then watching it over in class is something I have never seen done before and is something that could be a fun activity.
4. The section that I found to be most interesting was from Blog Post six. I really enjoyed being able to look at different websites that my classmate found. Before researching for this class I never realized that many schools required their teachers to post on their own form of a website. I believe this to be helpful for parents, teachers, and students. I will take what I have learned from the lesson and my classmates and apply it to my life as a teacher in the future!
I commented on Mallory's blog post and Morgan's blog post
Loved your blog! I agree that flipped classrooms are new and have a lot of potential to be utilized in a good way. You gave a lot of benefits and introspective to it. It was a great addition. Great read!
ReplyDeleteHayley,
ReplyDeleteVideo production sounds so cool! I also am not sure what it takes to create one, but love to watch other peoples' creations. Great post!
Hey Hayley!
ReplyDeleteI really liked reading your post today. I found it interesting to read about the flipped classroom but I don't think that I would ever really implement it in my classroom. Learning how to do video production would be a great tool to have in the classroom. It would be cool to create educational videos for the students to learn from especially if you are interested in doing the flipped classroom!
Hey Hayley!
ReplyDeleteI really loved your blogpost. I agree I would not really use surveys all the time but Excel is super super beneficial both personal and professional. Great post!
