1. Assistive and adaptive technologies are an amazing advancement
in not only our classrooms, but our world! The example provided about Julie, a
visually impaired girl, is a perfect representation of how these technologies are
life changing. It is evident that as technology improves, there are still
errors and challenges to be worked on. I personally have never seen someone use
one of these technologies, but can be certain they were used in my high school.
As I teacher, I would like to make sure these are available to students in
need. I do not believe there will be many substantial challenges with using
them in the classroom.
2. Universal design was created to set guidelines for an optimal learning
environment and to have the most success in the classroom. The universal design
is important in order to have one standard understanding of the guidelines for
learning. I believe these principles allow for the best result and as little
flaw as possible. The way these principles were created made sure they applied
to as large a group as possible and that everyone was given a fair chance to
succeed.
3. The first software tool I would love to incorporate into my classroom
is Edmodo. This is almost like a Facebook group for students and teachers to
connect on while in and out of school. This was a tool that many of my teachers
tried to implement in my classrooms. We did not end up using it often, but when
we did I found it to be enjoyable and educational. Google Drive is a second
software tool that I would definitely implement in my classroom. Before college
I never used any sort of internet based source as such, but have come to love
in and find it extremely helpful. It is super organized in that all of your
work is in one place and it makes it easy to work with others. These are two
tools that I believe would be very beneficial to students in the future!
4. I was intimidated to have to blog every week. I always assumed blogging
was only for extremely creative people and that is definitely not me. However,
as time has gone on, I have really enjoyed it and it has actually opened me up
to explore different teacher blogging sites. The blogger site has made the
process very self-explanatory and I believe I will take the skills I have
learned into the workforce in the future.
I commented on Mallory and Olivia Wilkening's blog post
Great post Hayley! I too was intimidated to keep up with a blog. It can be tricky a new avenue to get used to. I have never heard of Edmodo, but it sounds like a great educational tool for a classroom.
ReplyDeleteHi Hayley! Great post. I have to agree with you that I was also intimidated about doing a blog post every week but I have found that it is fun to do actually, and not too much work to keep up with. I have never heard about Edmodo but I can't wait to look into it to see if I would use it for my classroom too!
ReplyDeleteHayley,
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you're willing to accommodate all students. I also agree that UDL makes it so that all people are given a fair chance with the material. I have never heard of Edmodo, but it sounds very interesting and I want to look into it. Finally, I'm glad that the blogs have been more fun for you.
